Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of her home town. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a self-described Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria and half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder and her family moved to California's Mendocino County in the year 2000, when Ryder was only seven years old. They lived in a place without electric power. Ryder was a prolific reader because of the lack of television. Ryder, then 12, was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In 1986, she got her first big-screen role in the film Lucas when she was just fifteen years old. Ryder was subject to bullying in highschool. Ryder believed that if she became an actor, her behavior would be changed. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. But she pushed on with her dreams. Ryder made her breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder continued to be successful in her characters in numerous films. He was nominated for two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
